What is Lane Keep Assist?

Cream 2019 Honda CR-V

Providing an extra element of safety on the roads of Arlington roads, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) is offered as part of Honda Sensing® safety suite. This feature alerts you if you begin to drift from your lane due to momentary distraction. Once alerted, this feature works with Honda Sensing® features to help you safely navigate back into your lane on Memphis. Learn more about what Lane Keeping Assist does and how it works on new Honda vehicles below!

How Does Lane Keep Assist Work?

Lane Keeping Assist System scans road markings and uses visual and tactile alerts to notify you if you begin to drift from your lane without signaling. You’ll see a Lane Departure warning in the multi-information display, and the steering wheel will vibrate to get your attention quickly. Additionally, the Lane Keeping Assist System can also provide steering input to help the car stay centered until you take action.

Can I Turn Lane Keep Assist Off?

Yes, you can turn off all Honda Sensing® features, including the Lane Keeping Assist feature. Just follow these simple steps:

  • Press the MAIN button on the steering wheel until you see LKAS on the multi-information display
  • Press LKAS
  • You’ll see lane outlines on the display (dotted lines turn solid when the system is ready)
  • Press the MAIN or LKAS button to turn off the system

What is Honda Sensing®?

Honda Sensing® is a package of driver-assist and safety features that can be found standard or optional on fan-favorite models, such as the Accord Sedan and Pilot SUV. In addition to LKAS, Honda Sensing® includes the following:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Honda LaneWatch
  • Blind Spot Information System
  • Cross-Traffic Monitor
  • Auto High-Beam Headlights

Lane Keeping Assist System is one of the features you’ll find as part of Honda Sensing®, but not Toyota Safety Sense. TSS offers Lane Departure Alert, but it doesn’t apply steering torque to help keep your car centered.
